‘Any indication of concern from Buckingham Palace would increase pressure on Ministers to scrap the proposals’
I wish the Queen better luck than my efforts in obtaining the support of my Tory MP. Her initial reply merely thanked me for my views. When challenged for a more committed response she waffled on about her concerns for the handling of Northern Ireland legislation and local Assemblies.

“ Ministers are engaged in an intense and at times aggressive reshaping of our moral framework”
If greed prompts human beings to feather their financial nest then it is only natural that people with low standards of morality will attempt to feather their moral nests by changing the legal, religious and social precepts that restrict their behaviour!

“ Those who are elected to fashion our laws are not elected to be our moral tutors. They have no mandate or competence to be so.”
Not only do some of them appear to be incompetent at fashioning our laws, others reveal standards of moral conduct of a most unsavoury nature.
