Illegal abortions still blight UK

Illegal abortions are still taking place in the UK, a BBC undercover investigation has discovered.

Abortion has been legal in Britain for 40 years - woman have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy up to 24 weeks.

But the BBC has discovered pills for getting rid of unwanted pregnancies are readily available on the black market.

Actually, it is not true that 'woman [sic] have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy' in the UK!

However, in 'BBC World' that is probably regarded as true.

Interesting. I e-mailed the BBC to point out the inaccuracy in the item above, and they have now amended it. The original paragraph read,

"Abortion has been legal in Britain for 40 years - woman have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy up to 24 weeks."

The new paragraph reads,

"Abortion has been legal in Britain for 40 years - under certain conditions a woman can terminate an unwanted pregnancy up to 24 weeks."

Big improvement, eh?
